SAS Clinical Fellowship Opportunities
NHS England Southwest (NHSE-SW) and the Postgraduate Medical Education Office is delighted to announce two secondment fellowship opportunities to work with our senior staff.
The fellowships offer a unique opportunity to improve the development and career progression of SAS doctors and promote the capability necessary for their future roles as senior doctors and clinical leaders in their workplace.
The knowledge and skills acquired through these posts will provide leadership experience to a successful SAS doctor. It is anticipated that at the end of the tenure, the fellow(s) will be well placed in the future to lead, to promote and disseminate support to others SAS colleagues. They will be able to help SAS doctors with career progression and to promote recognition of the grade in the healthcare community.
Applicants should be a GMC registered doctor in an SAS grade post (Specialist, Associate Specialist, Specialty Doctor, Staff grade) working within the geographical responsibility of the Severn/ Peninsula Postgraduate Medical Education region. If you are unsure about your eligibility by your job role please contact the team for discussion.
It is anticipated that each successful post-holder will spend 2 days (0.4 WTE) on an agreed strategy and proposals and lead on an individual support project. The Trust(s) will be reimbursed for the SAS doctors time out at basic rate, minus out of hours costs and any other additional allowances. The SAS doctor (fellow) will return to their usual role at the end of their secondment.
There are 2 posts available on a 12-month secondment. The start date will be dependent on successful negotiations with the employer (i.e. Clinical lead, Director of Medical Education with support from the SAS Tutor).
The appointed SAS Doctor will also be funded to complete a postgraduate qualification (PG Cert) in Medical Education in Healthcare Leadership and Management at either Exeter or Plymouth University depending on availability on application.
Selection will be by a Postgraduate Medical Education Office interview process.
